The history of Loire and its wines confounds with French History. From the X^th century, from the Court of Paris until the Loire castles, the Capetiens & Valois will contribute to make the fame of the Loire wines.

From its source until the estuary, the Loire river crosses a mosaic of vineyards with tempered climate which varies from half continental to ocean type in the Nantes region.

Following the Loire course one finds a great diversity of grapes :

• White vintages : Sauvignon, Chenin, Melon de Bourgogne (Muscadet)
• Rose vintages : Gamay, Grolleau, Pinot noir
• Red vintages : Cabernet, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Gamay, Côt, Merlot.

From these harmonious blends was born the greatest diversity that one can find in France. The Val de Loire is the 3rd wine producing region and one of the rare ones allowing both AOC and country wines.
