In Burgundy, the growing of the vine is higher in the
Côte de Beaunes than in the
Côte de Nuits (400 m and
sometimes more). The reef is cut in "combes", among which the
Pernand-Vergeless one seems to separate the famous
Corton mount of the rest of the coast.
For 30 years the "hautes-côtes", where the "Bourgognes" HCN & HCB appellations are located, are getting planted again little by little.
The "aligoté" finds there its favourite land which stresses its freshness. Some vineyards give excellent red wines issued from
Pinot noir, often offering scents of small red fruit (raspberry and black currant).
